Congratulations to the winner of our Winter Winelands Giveaway - Tammy!

Tammy will be enjoying the scenery of De Doornkraal’s Aan't Vette Vineyard along with a selection of sensational wines from the Eden Wine Route.

We selected luscious wines from these immaculate estates for Tammy to enjoy.

Aan't Vette

De Doornkraal's Aan't Vette Wine Estate established its vineyard in 2008 on the outskirts of Riversdale, stretching along the banks of the Vette River. The vineyard consists of a single block Syrah (Shiraz) cultivar that has consistently produced award-winning wines. We featured this in a recent blog as one of the best places to have a weekend away!

The prize includes 2 Aan't Vette wines and a chance to experience the beauty of their eco-friendly vineyard & historic Vinotel.

The first wine featured in our giveaway hamper is the 2013 Divine Blush boasting an appealing vivid orange-pink colour, with spicy notes of nutmeg, cloves & cinnamon on the nose. On the palate, the wine is smooth and remarkably complex for a Blanc de Noir, revealing notes of strawberry & quince with a hint of melon on the finish.

The 2015 Louis Meurant captivates with its sophisticated ruby red colouration. A subtle nose jests simplicity at first but intensifies over time. Bold black cherry, subtle spice & dried Italian herbal notes subdue the palate with additional flavours of tea leaf & thyme lingering. A perfect luxuriously bold wine that can be enjoyed now or after some time in the cellar.

A taste of the Plett Winelands further up the Eden Wine Route

Plettenvale

Tastings are by appointment only, but if they have availability your patience will be rewarded with a delicious assortment of flavours which can only be enjoyed on the Eden Wine Route.

Their award-winning Brut Rose (NV) is an exquisite tint of salmon pink, offering the palate delicate hints of strawberry followed by crisp fresh zest & vivacious cascading fine mousse. The complexity of Pinot Noir and elegance of Chardonnay plus extra time sur lie, results in the rich flavour with a long finish. This Cap Classic is the culmination of a long-time fantasy turned into reality. It is produced in the French tradition from grapes grown on the north facing slopes of Plettenberg Bay.

Newstead

Nestled in the valley outside of Plettenberg Bay, Newstead offers luxury, alongside astonishing natural scenery.

When it comes to their wines, the multiple Michelangelo Awards & five-star Platter ratings speak for themselves and put them among the best in the country.

Their 2016 Brut, produced in the Method Cap Classique style, is all about an appreciation for detail. The kind that hand picks healthy, unblemished grapes; enjoys tasty, crisp, elegant, limey finishes; and needs no occasion for a celebration.

The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc manages to simultaneously be simple & sophisticated. This Sauvignon Blanc is full of flavour, with a subtlety of lime, gooseberry & passion fruit. It is fresh, unique & delicious! We try to savour it slowly... (but we usually don’t succeed).

Lodestone

Named after the strong attraction that the owners immediately felt for the farm, one feels the same pull when stepping onto this estate. Lying at the foothills of the Tsitsikamma Mountains at an elevation of 250m, this estate offers spectacular views and a perfect location for weddings & events!

The wine that joins the collection is their Stonechat Brut Rose (NV) which is a sublime salmon pink colour, displaying a crisp acidity with a strawberry-pomegranate-like nose, delivered on a cloud of fine bubbles.

The Eden Wine Route is a must-visit for delectable wines & superb views of mother nature. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting the Winter Winelands Competition and look forward to treating another lucky reader again soon!
