Take a trip off the beaten track to a private family-owned boutique wine estate, nestled in a breath-taking valley overlooking the Banghoek basin. Exquisite views of the Jonkershoek Mountain alight with beautiful rainbows captured many a day - a truly awe-inspiring sight.
Top quality hand-crafted red wines and passionate, knowledgeable hosts make for an excellent wine tasting experience that is well worth the trip.
The Cab Franc was our favourite - a smooth, easy drinking wine with an aging potential, nuances of dark cherry, black berries, tobacco & sweet black forest - irresistible! Other notable wines are the Merlot with a deep crimson hue, rounded tannins & a long lasting finish; the Cab Sauv with smooth tannins and a lingering dark chocolate aftertaste.
This sub-region of Stellenbosch holds the throne when it comes to exquisite Cabernet Sauvignons!
The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is their Cabernet Franc Limited Release - a single clone and block dedicated to this label. The only winery in SA to make a Cab Franc from this clone alone - a unique varietal only found here!
Private tastings are offered in the Manor house’s wine tasting lounge or on the stoep above the barrel cellar overlooking the spectacular mountain scenery.
Tastings are R50pp - fees are waivered if 4 or more bottles are purchased.
